Winter Weather Means Your Skin Needs More Moisture!

Are you starting to see dry, flaky, irritated “winter” skin?  During this time of year, the cold, dry air can leave your skin looking dull, dehydrated and deprived. Don’t let winter weather wreak havoc on your skin! Face the cold weather and dry air with a good prevention plan. Whether you stay inside all day (artificial heat is the worst!), or you’re out in the chill, here’s how to keep your skin looking great.

Moisturize and Protect Your Skin

Look for products that not only moisturize, but provide healing and repair benefits. Although you can’t control wind and dry air, you can  combat them by applying moisturizer to your skin morning and evening. Start your day with Lifeline’s Daily Defense Complex. This advanced lightweight formula contains ultrasomes and antioxidants that not only diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, they also prevent dehydration and provide hydrating nutrients. In the evening, apply Lifeline’s Night Recovery Moisture Complex. This powerfully effective serum visibly lifts, firms and tones the skin and contains B-Complex, Green Tea Extract and amino acids that replenish and protect skin’s moisture balance.

Exfoliate

It seems counter-intuitive to exfoliate in the winter, but it is more important than ever. Exfoliating skin will remove the dull, dry surface cells caused from exposure. By removing these dead cells, you allow the repairing, healing and hydrating benefits to penetrate. Use Lifeline Dual Action Exfoliator to both remove dead skin cells and increase the potency and effectiveness of your skin care treatment products. Once a week is recommended, but twice a week may be preferred during winter.

The Eyes!

Of course this is where we “wear” first, especially during the cold weather. The fragile skin around the eyes really takes a beating. Lifeline’s  Eye Firming Complex is designed to help hydrate and firm the eye area and minimize the puffiness caused by dry winds and cold temperatures.

Check the Thermostat

Cold air has a lower humidity - meaning that it carries very little moisture. You raise the thermostat at home or crank up the heat in your car, which adds warmth but not moisture. Moisture then evaporates from your body, leaving your skin dry and vulnerable. Resist the temptation to overheat your home, office or car.  Turn down the thermostat before retiring at night.

Hydrate from the Inside-Out

To maintain a younger look and healthy, happy body, it’s important to nourish and hydrate both inside and out. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you’re not a big fan of water, try adding more fruits to your diet or drink herbal tea. Avoid excess caffeine when possible. This doesn’t mean you have to give up your beloved cup of coffee each morning. Try  avoiding sodas altogether because  the chemicals and the caffeine dry out your skin and deprive your  body of essential nutrients.

Sunscreen

UV exposure is the number one cause of aging skin; mix that with the cold, dry air and it can really be damaging. Choose a sunscreen that is nourishing and hydrating, as well as protective.
